PROBIOTICS Probiotics are a live, nonpathogenic bacteria that contribute to the health and balance of the intestinal tract. They are given orally to our birds to help the pigeon fight sickness and disease. Their purpose is to outcompete the bad bacteria that might present itself in the bird's digestive system and to protect our pigeons.
When used regularly this nonpathogenic bacteria gets to the “gut” first and is able to colonize the gut and reduce or eliminate the opportunity for the pathogenic bacteria to establish itself. You should know too that we test each new batch of probiotics that we ship. We want to be sure it is alive and active so you can use it with confidence.
Our probiotic supplement is a combination of up to 12 different strains. In other words it gives your birds a broad spectrum of friendly bacteria to ward off or eliminate the harmful bacteria that your bird may ingest. It can be fed daily, although some want to only use it during times of stress or after vaccinations or periods of illness. This is your choice, but we recommend daily use.
We should also mention that this is the same probiotic we use in our Healthy Pigeon Blend. If you use our Healthy Pigeon Blend you do not need to buy or use this material.
